Why We Need You

Our girls need to see themselves in the women leading them. They need women of color who've navigated similar spaces, who understand without explanation, and who can say "I was you once—look at me now." You don't need to have all the answers or be perfect. You just need to show up authentically and let a girl see what's possible when she looks at you. Your presence alone tells her: You belong here. You matter. Keep going.

What It Means to Volunteer

Volunteering with Cinnamongirl means becoming part of a girl's journey at a moment when she needs you most. You might facilitate a workshop, mentor during sessions, support our capstone presentations, or simply be a consistent, caring presence in the room. The time commitment varies based on what works for your life.

In-Person Opportunities

Roles Include:

Cohort Meeting Support

Cohort meetings are held on Saturdays from October - May, and volunteers should expect to be onsite for at least 3 hours.

Virtual Opportunities

Support Cinnamongirl from anywhere!

Roles Include:

Writing Coach
Public Speaking Coach
Travel Planning Team
Web/Graphic Design

Coaches meet with their mentees for one hour every other week from November - May. Each coach may mentor up to 3 girls.

FAQs

You can volunteer for one day at one of our events, a few hours a month during the school year supporting our cohort meetings, take on a bit more as a mentor, or set your own schedule helping out with a project. No matter your schedule and availability, there is a volunteer opportunity for you!
Our cohort meetings are held in Oakland and most of our events are in the East Bay. Virtual volunteer roles can be done from anywhere!
