Cinnamongirl MH
MH (unidentified for privacy reasons) is a 17-year-old senior at one of the most rigorous high schools in Oakland. With a love for collaboration, our achiever enjoys the ability to learn from and teach those in her community. She first started with Cinnamongirl in 2019 as a member of the 2019/2020 Travelgirl cohort, and her involvement within the organization skyrocketed as Cinnamongirl was the space that helped foster her identity and success as a leader. In 2020, Miss MH helped with the re-launch of our Passport Book Club and took on the role as co-leader along with another Cinnamongirl achiever mentoring over 20 precocious preteens.
Over the years, Cinnamongirl has fostered strength in MH's independence as she navigated other activities such as being the President of two clubs within her high school, being a co-founder of a student-led activist group called Black Students Demanding Change, and playing on three varsity sports teams at her school.
Today MH serves as the first Cinnamongirl Junior Board Member and the first Student President of Cinnamongirl where she interacts with cohorts, parents, and executive members to maintain the organization's excellence and connection with high-performing girls, all while maintaining the position of head mentor of our Passport Book Club cohort.
