Dr. Candice Crenshaw-Mayo
Dr. Candice Crenshaw-Mayo aka Dr. C is a proud Bay Area resident, born and bred in the Fillmore District of San Francisco, CA. She is an enthusiastic and dedicated educator and presenter, who is passionate about creating spaces of community founded on trust, peer mentorship, and self-reflection.
Dr. C earned her Bachelor’s and Masters in English, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership for Social Justice from Cal State East Bay.
Dr. C prides herself on introducing activities that are fun, engaging, and intellectually stimulating, while also fostering an inspirational climate where individuals can reach their full potential of comprehending complex subjects and understanding diverse perspectives. Her purpose in life is to educate, motivate, uplift, empower, and celebrate all aspects of being an intelligent Black female.
Dr. C is a lifelong learner whose philosophy is to be intentional about seeking and finding joy in all that you do. During the pandemic, she was nicknamed by her colleagues as the “Curator of Joy” which comes from the energy she brings into the room.
Dr. C is a wife, mother of 6, and grandmother (Mimi) of 10 beautiful grandloves. She is a lover of books, travel, fashion, food, sports, and wine. In her spare time, she can be found flying kites with her grandloves, dining at a new Bay Area Black-owned restaurant with her hubby, checking out exhibits at the Oakland Museum with family and friends, or chilling in her hammock with a good book.
