Currently a senior at Indiana University, Assata is an English major with a concentration in Creative Writing. She also is double minoring in Human Sexuality and African American and African Diaspora Studies with a concentration in performing arts. She is currently working on her project for the English Honors Program, a developing poetry thesis that conveys the many identities of love she has been introduced to as a young woman of color.

Aside from writing, Assata dances with the African American Dance Company and serves as the co-president of the company’s student organization. Assata looks forward to beginning her journey as a book club lead, in hopes to encourage the embrace of their beauty and smarts as black and brown girls.
