Japan – 2023

  • Met with Motoko Rich at the New York Times office in Tokyo, explored Tsukiji Fish Market, and passed through the bustling Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo

  • Visited Hakone, home of the Hakone Jinja shrine, and took a breathtaking boat ride to the base of Mount Fuj

  • Toured Osaka’s Ramen Noodle Museum and saw Osaka Castle

  • In Kyoto, engaged in insightful discussions with Dr. Fumiko Sakashita at Ritsumeikan University's Kinugasa Campus about the study of Blacks in Japan, and participated in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony

Washington, DC – 2023

  • Met with leaders including Senator Cory Booker, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Congressman Eric Swallwell, justice advocate Christine Platt, and Dr. Fellicia Bell, Senior Advisor to the Director of the American History Museum

  • Toured the American History Museum, the newly renovated Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, and the renowned National Museum of African American History and Culture

Australia – 2022

  • Sydney, Cairnes, and the Great Barrier Reef

  • Snorkeled, took a helicopter ride over The Great Barrier Reef, the 7th Wonder of the World

  • Visited the village of Kuranda, rode a Skyrail cable car to see the largest rainforest in the world

  • Dressed Up to See Terrain at the Iconic Sydney Opera House and visited Featherdale Wildlife Park

Mexico – 2021

  • Mexico City and Zihuatanejo

  • Immersed in the food and language – ate at five-star restaurants

  • Visited Frida Kahlo's Home and toured the San Juan Teotihuacán pyramids

  • Stayed in a beautiful oceanfront villa, relaxing and bonding with fellow Cinnamongirls

Journey to the South – 2020

  • Toured the Lorraine Motel, Central High, and the Equal Justice Institute

  • Visited the homes of Dr. Martin King & Coretta Scott and Medgar Evers

  • Discussed the Emmett Till Story & Visit the Grocery Store 

  • Toured the Underground Railroad Home

  • In-person talks with Freedom Riders, Little Rock Nine Students, and a 16th St. Baptist Church Bomb Survivor

Senegal – 2019

  • Visited important cultural and historical sites, including the Door of No Return

  • Attended a Senegalese High School Prom and Graduation and formed relationships with amazing high-performing Senegalese girls

  • Stayed in a beautiful boutique hotel, met with top Senegalese national ambassadors, dined at top-notch restaurants
